On December 5, Wang Lasha, Director of the Foreign Cooperation Division of the Provincial Department of Education, visited Sichuan Tourism University. Vice President Li Jinjun hosted the reception.

Wang Lasha fully affirmed the university’s internationalization achievements and expressed hope that the university would respond to changes more effectively, adapt to new circumstances, and innovate to better serve national strategies while enhancing the level of international exchange and cooperation. He emphasized that the university should deeply study national policies, thoroughly understand the internationalization strategy outlined in the “14th Five-Year Plan”, and scientifically plan its internationalization pathway to align with national development. He urged the university to leverage its unique strengths to build its brand and contribute to the province’s development strategy. In particular, under the “Belt and Road” Education Action Plan, the university should implement the principles of “bringing in” and “going out”, actively build the “the Story of Sichuan Cuisine” and “Study in Sichuan” brands, and enhance the influence of Sichuan culture. Wang also stressed that the university should focus on its own realities and strive to cultivate more high-caliber, application-oriented talents in tourism who can meet the needs of economic and social development, as well as high-quality talents with international perspectives.

In his concluding remarks, Li Jinjun emphasized that internationalization is a key strategy for the university’s development. He called on all relevant departments and secondary schools to study the policies and directives from various levels of government and persistently advance the work. He outlined three key priorities:  

1. Deep Understanding and Effective Implementation: The entire university should thoroughly study the national and educational policies on internationalization, design comprehensive plans, and integrate internationalization efforts with teaching, research, and other initiatives to create a synergistic environment for mutual growth.  

2. Enhanced Awareness and Broader Vision: Faculty and students across the university need to recognize the importance of internationalization, elevate their political awareness, and approach it from the perspective of serving national strategies and the university’s long-term development.  

3. Proactive Action and Accountability: All departments and members of the university community must ensure the implementation of internationalization tasks, aiming to cultivate high-quality talents with global perspectives and competitiveness, and to contribute to the country’s openness and educational modernization.
